BOARDING REQUIREMENTS AND POLICIES

Vaccination Requirements :
As a precaution for the protection of other boarding pets, our staff and outpatients, our facility requires vaccinations and other preventative care steps for all boarders.
All vaccinations are required to have been administered by a Veterinarian. We will accept copies of medical records with vaccine data or faxed medical records from your Veterinarians Office.
We will not recognize Owner or Breeder administered vaccination -or- Feed Store, Catalogue or Internet purchased vaccinations.
Canine Requirements:
-
Distemper- Parvovirus Vaccination: A required booster given within the past 12 months -or- 36 months with a licensed 3 year approved vaccine.
-
Bordetella Bronchiseptica Vaccination: Aka 'Kennel Cough', a required booster given within the past 6 months.
- Fecal Floatation Intestinal Parasite Screen: A negative fecal floatation screen within the past 12 months.
Feline Requirements:
-
Rabies Vaccination: A Rabies vaccination recognized as 'current' by state regulatory agency. This is either a 1 year or 3 year vaccination. A Rabies tag is not proof of current vaccination.
-
Feline VRCP Vaccination: Aka 'Feline Distemper' required booster given within the past 12 months -or- 36 months with a licensed 3 year approved vaccine.
Illness or Emergencies develop while boarding:
In the event your pet becomes ill or an emergency condition develops while boarding with our facility we will take the following steps.
A physical examination and assessment will be made by one of our veterinarians.
In the event the problem is categorized as minor by the Veterinarian, treatment will be initiated and it will be discussed with you at the time of pick up - examples would be boarder stress diarrhea, minor skin or ear infection.
In the event the problem is categorized as significant or an emergency, treatment will be initiated and we will attempt to contact you as soon as possible. In critical or otherwise unpredictable emergency situations, we will attempt to contact you as soon as possible to discuss the problems - but, at the discretion of our veterinarians and in the best medical interest of your pet, we may elect to transport your pet to a 24 hour emergency referral institution to provide appropriate care.
In each circumstance, you are responsible for the entire cost of care given by Carolina Animal Hospital or the 24-Hour Emergency Referral business - payable at the time of service and/or pick-up.
Illness associated with boarding:
In the same way a pre-school or daycare is not held responsible for 'snot nose' or stomach virus outbreaks when a child then needs to seek care at the pediatrician, we will not be held responsible in the event your pet contracts illness within our boarding facility during it's stay as long a reasonable precautionary and sanitary procedures have been in place. Since we cannot guarantee the effectiveness of any particular vaccine nor adequate function of a boarders immune system - if your pet develops kennel cough or returns home with diarrhea due to stress after a stay with our hospital, you will be responsible for the cost of necessary care.
