**ANNOUNCING IVERHART MAX**

In September 2008, our practice shifted our Heartworm and Intestinal Parasite Prevention recommendations and inventory stock from Heartgard Plus to Iverhart Max.
 
The reason for this shift is two fold – Broader Parasite Protection & Lower Cost To You!
 
First - While Iverhart Max uses the same base pharmaceutical compounds for the Heartworm, Roundworm and Hookworm prevention, it also includes Praziquantel which addresses Tapeworms.
 
Second - As a competitor product of Heartgard Plus, Iverhart Max provides all of this protection at an appreciably lower cost.
 
·        Bottom Line: Iverhart Max covers more parasites for less cost than Heartgard Plus.
 
The product’s parasite prevention guarantee is comparable to Heartgard Plus –and- covers the switch over period provided your dog has a negative heartworm test prior to the switch. Both companies only provide the guarantee when their products are purchased through an approved source. One small drawback – Patients under 6 pounds will need to use Iverhart Plus which offers identical protection to Heartgard plus but does not include Tapeworm prevention. Iverhart Plus is also lower cost than comparable Heartgard Plus.

For those clients who wish to continue their pets on Heartgard Plus, we will continue to carry a small stock of this product for the next 12 months. After this time, we will happily offer written scripts to clients who request them – which is our normal policy now.
